Our production

1. Welcome

To Rosendalagatan 6 in Huskvarna, Sweden. Here you will get a glimpse into our production process from planks and boards to high quality furniture. Click on the numbers above to go through our factory.

2. Timber Store

The wood in different types and dimensions arrive from various certified wood suppliers and controlled forestry. It is dried to furniture dry, ~ 8%. In the picture, it is alder that is used for the stripes of wood in the core on tabletops, shelves, etc.

3. Cutting

Cutting starts the entire manufacturing process and requires a trained eye and experience to exploit the timber with as little waste as possible. The planks are cut about 30 mm longer than the final length should be.

4. Strip Sawing

Large circular blades saw the plank to the width needed. Blockboard strips are cut out by several blades next to each other.

5. Strip Planing

In the drop-planer the sawn slats is planned to exact dimensions on all four sides, simultaneously.

6. Veneer Pasting

The veneer is about 0.6 mm thick and requires a careful and meticulous handling. The veneer is cut to right length and width and pasted together, making beautiful and symmetrical patterns. Usually we use knife sliced veneer, but also rotary cut veneer is used in less visible areas.

7. Veneering

Strips for strips are put together into a massive core. On each side layers of 3 mm MDF and veneer is added making a sandwich construction. This is veneered blockboard – A sturdy, lightweight and sturdy construction that is characteristic of quality furniture. Everything is compressed in the veneer press for a few minutes in 100 degrees heat and high pressure.

8. CNC

A CNC machine is programmed to cut, drill and mill parts from different directions and angles. A variety of tools are needed to process different types of materials in the most varied forms.

9. Machine Polishing

Prior to coating, all the details are trimmed. Wide and flat surfaces are trimmed in the broadband sander. Three pieces of sandpaper with different fineness gives the wood the perfect finish.

10. Hand Polishing

To get the perfect surface, edges, corners and curves must be trimmed by hand. This operation makes the difference for the furniture to be considered as a quality piece of furniture.

11. White Store

An interim storage for certain parts of the furniture. Here the parts are selected accordingly to every customer orders before moving on to finishing.

12. Laquering

First the parts are given a base coat. After drying for a few hours the product is grinded and finally given a top coated surface. We use both water based paint and acid based lacquer. After drying overnight the parts can be assembled.

13. Lacquer Grinding

When painting the base coat the fibers of the wood rise making the surface rough and must be sanded. To get a soft and smooth surface, lacquer sanding by hand is performed with great care.

14. Assembly

After the finish, the parts are assembled into finished furniture, as far as the transport volume admits. Meanwhile the quality control is performed checking that everything fits and is ordered by the customer.

15. Packing

When the furniture is fully assembled, packing is done. Every detail is carefully protected to withstand transport to the furniture's final destination.

16. Deliver

Now it's time for the furniture to leave Karl Andersson & Söner. Delivery is made by road, sea and air to customers around the world.
