Mick Born (born in 1972) trained as an art director at Berghs School of Communication/Visual Communication. After a number of years working for a variety of advertising agencies, Mick decided it was time for a change and in 2004 began studying at the Carl Malmsten School of Design in Stockholm. The hallmark of Mick’s work is the use of often light-hearted visual effects that stand in stark contrast to the simple graphic lines of his designs. Today Mick successfully runs his own business, Born Studios, which frequently receives commissions that include everything from marketing to conceptual interior design and furniture design.
The cabinet with the bent corners, Mrs Bill, was launched by Karl Andersson & Söner in 2009. The idea was the product of a desire to design a cabinet door that is as visually and functionally simple as it is possible to make.
