Louise Hederström (born 1973) studied at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm. Today she works on a wide variety of product design projects through her own Charming Unit design studio in Malmö. For Louise, it is always important to identify the character of the products she designs: a product’s character is closely linked to its function and to the story that often lies behind the evolution of the idea. Products can begin their life as an experiment with forms and shapes, or with a problem that needs to be solved. The result, when Louise has her way, frequently has a graphical expression. She wants the products she designs to make a statement in the room and communicate with the user. Louise is often inspired by the things and events that surround her in everyday life – such as when animals or objects suddenly appear in an unexpected context. Or by Elvis Presley, as a never-ending source of forms, music and madness. For Karl Andersson & Söner, Louise has designed the magazine rack Collar, presented to the market in 2011 and sofa table Eight year 2018.
